“There’s Never Time” is a framed analog working clock accompanied with a dot matrix printer which “chimes” data every hour with up-to-the-minute facts and figures on why women have less time than their male counterparts on perforated fan paper. That paper and all its data then creates a pile of never-ending entries.
Much of the inspiration for the facts come from the realization that the women seeking advice online often had feelings of inadequacy or shame of not being able to “manage it all”, but would be often be blindsided in the comments section when people pointed out the obvious imbalance of power they themselves described in their post. This was in all aspects of women’s lives across all kinds–relationship advice (financial/physical abuse, predatory/narcissistic behavior), job advice (“boy’s club” mentality, negative reaction to child-minding), family predicaments (parentification of siblings, double standards in marriage or immediate family).
